Extreme Poverty Intervention Programme (EPIP)
The Government is undertaking comprehensive, scientific, and practical interventions to eradicate extreme poverty prevailing in society. The Extreme Poverty Eradication Mission (EPEM) in Kerala was initiated as a continuation of various programmes previously implemented by the Government, such as Ashraya, Agathirahitha Keralam, and Vishappurahitha Keralam, aimed at eliminating extreme poverty. The process of identifying extremely poor persons was completed through a people-centric initiative conducted from July 2021 to January 2022, with active public participation.
In Mylapra Grama Panchayat, there are 25 beneficiaries included in the Extreme Poverty List. Of these, 3 persons have passed away. Social Security Pension has been provided to 2 persons who were included in the Extreme Poverty List but had not been receiving pension.
Various assistance and welfare measures have been provided to the beneficiaries, including house maintenance assistance to 4 persons, ration cards to 3 persons, health insurance cards to 18 persons, and employment cards to 9 persons.
At present, food grain kits are being provided to 10 extremely poor families. Housing has been provided to one person, and income-generating projects have been implemented for 3 persons through the Ujjivanam Scheme. Various other initiatives, including user-fee support and assistance for purchasing medicines, are also being implemented for persons identified as extremely poor.
